PhD Scholars

Suvarna Parvathy joined as direct-PhD scholar in July 2018. Her area of interest is high speed silicon photonic modulators for microwave photonic applications. She is currently working on silicon photonic modulators with low loss, high modulation efficiency and low energy per bit. Prior to this, she has two years of work experience in the telecom field. She completed her B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from NSS College of Engineering, Kerala in 2015. Apart from research, she also likes reading, music and travelling.

Rammohan joined as PhD(Direct) scholar in July 2018. His research area is Quantum Key Distribution on SOI platform. He completed his B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from IIT(ISM), Dhanbad, in 2018. Apart from research, he loves watching movies.

Ashitosh Velamuri joined as a PhD research scholar in January 2019. His current research area is Microwave Silicon Photonics. He is working towards designing and demonstrating a state-of-the-art tunable photonic RF filter with narrow bandwidth and low insertion loss. He also works as a Senior Project Officer (SPO) for the centre, starting from April 2021. He has completed his Master of Science (Research) from IIT Kanpur. As a part of his research at IIT Kanpur, he studied the impact of bend losses in different fibres. He has earned three conference publications and one journal publication. In addition to research, his interests include reading books, cycling and badminton.

Anushka Tiwari joined as project associate in January 2019 and has been enrolled in PhD since January 2020. Her area of interest is Silicon Nitride Microwave Photonics Circuits. Currently she is involved in Silicon Nitride Waveguide Technology process development. Before joining the centre, she worked as a faculty at First Bench, Chennai. She completed M.Tech in RF and Microwave Engineering from IIT(ISM) Dhanbad in 2018. As a part of her M.Tech project, she worked on high gain antenna arrays and has 3 conference publications out of it. She completed B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from IIST(RGPV), Indore in 2014. Apart from the research, she enjoys dancing.

Pawan Kumar joined as PhD scholar in July 2019. His current research area is the design of feedback control of Silicon Photonic circuits. He completed his B.Tech in Electronics and Communication from UPTU, Lucknow in 2016 and has done his M. Tech in Laser and Electro-Optics Communication from DIAT-DRDO, Pune in 2018.

Riddhi Goswami joined in July,2019 for pursuing her final year of B.Tech and later upgraded to PhD.(Direct) in September,2020. Her area of research includes programmable photonic integrated circuits. She is currently working towards demonstration of wavelength independent directional couplers on Silicon Nitride platform. She completed her B. Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from NIT, Agartala in 2020. Alongside research, she loves reading fiction.

Ankan Gayen joined as MS scholar in July 2019 and upgraded to PhD on 11th September 2020. His current research interest is Integrated Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG) on silicon photonics platform. He worked as a Research Engineer at C-DOT Delhi from August 2018 to July 2019. He has completed his B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering from IIT Roorkee in 2018.

Kumar Piyush joined as an MS scholar in July 2019 and upgraded to Ph.D. in Oct 2020. His current research area is the design of Programmable Photonic Integrated Circuits on the Silicon Photonics platform. Prior to this, he worked at ALSTOM for a year after completing his B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Patna in 2018. Apart from research, he is interested in cycling, badminton, stand-up comedy and storytelling.

Yash Raj joined as a PhD (Direct) candidate in July 2021. His area of research includes programmable photonic integrated circuits and FPPGA. He completed his B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad in 2021. He is good at pencil sketching and loves cycling.

MS (by research)

Pratyasha Priyadarshini joined as an MS scholar in July 2018 and as a Project Associate at the centre in January 2021. Her current research interest is distributed Bragg reflector and sub-wavelength gratings based on-chip photonic filters in silicon. She completed her B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela in 2017. Apart from research, she likes to read, dance and stargaze.

Pranita Kumari Swain joined as a MS research scholar in July 2019. Her current research area is Comb Frequency Generation using Silicon Nitride High-Q ring resonator. Prior to this, she has a year of corporate work experience in Huawei Technologies. She completed her B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering from National Institute of Science & Technology, Odisha in 2016. Her hobbies are playing Chess, writing short stories and poems.

Shruti Pandey joined as an MS scholar in December 2021. Her research interest is Photonics Integrated Circuits. She has worked as a Research Fellow at Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and has published two papers related to range technology in IEEE ICORT 2021 conference and owns a design registration. She completed her B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from National Institute of Technology Raipur in 2020. Apart from keen interest in science and technology, she is a nature enthusiast and loves reading and writing.
