Dr. Shamsul Hassan our Interim Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the CoE-CPPICS since 1st December 2025, succeeding our former CTO Dr. Arnab Goswami. He initially joined the centre as a Project Scientist in December 2022, was subsequently promoted to Senior Project Scientist. Prior to this, he completed Ph.D. (Photonics) from the Dept. of Electronics Engineering, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad in the year of 2022. He completed his M.Tech. in Electronics and Communication from Kalyani Govt. Engineering College in 2016 and B.Tech. in ECE from WBUT Kolkata in 2013. He has been involved in the PIC foundry Tapeout, Inhouse PIC Packaging, Prototype development and Lab infrastructure development. He is an Early Career Member of OPTICA, SPIE and Corporate member of IETE.

Dr. Arnab Goswami the former CTO (2021-2025) is contributing as the External Technology Advisor (Honorary) for the Silicon Photonics CoE-CPPICS IIT Madras. He is working in silicon photonics industry involved in optical transceiver development. He completed PhD from the Dept. of EE, IIT Madras in the year of 2024. Prior to this, he completed his B.E. degree in Electronics and Telecommunication from IIEST, SHIBPUR (BESU) in 2014 and M.Tech in Communication Engineering from NIT Agartala in 2017. He was involved in the overall lab infrastructure development, fabrication process development, supervising design and foundry tapeouts of programmable silicon photonics chips for various applications.
