This project aims to design and fabricate efficient photon sources, filters and other components for Integrated Quantum Optical Circuits(IOQC) on Silicon On Insulator platform. It includes fiber pigtailing and packaging of fabricated prototype IQOCs for Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) applications.

This project aims to design and demonstrate an integrated tunable photonic RF filter to operate at high frequency (>10 GHz) with low insertion loss on the Silicon-On-Insulator platform. We also intend to package the fabricated photonic chip with electrical interfacing and test the device for RADAR and communication applications.

Through this project we aim to develop application specific photonic integrated chip (ASPIC) like reconfigurable RF filter for 5G/RADAR applications, quantum random number generation and so on. It will be spanned from investigating fundamental building blocks for the ASPIC to developing a photonic processor with the help of in-house fabrication and characterization facilities as well as foundry facilities. Developing the fabrication and testing technology in parallel is also a key objective.
